Genital Warts Prevention: Its Clear Connection With Hpv Prevention

Genital warts prevention boils down to the fact that you should practice safe sex. Its link to HPV provides you with the facts on how you may stop the problem. Read all the facts in this article.

Preventing any skin condition – viral or non-viral – must be consciously undertaken by a patient.  This is in order for the problem not to worsen in the future.  Although prevention is not enough guarantee to be able to remove the disorder in totality, at least you have tried.  With your quest for genital warts prevention, you must consider the importance of doing the same for HPV.

Human papillomaviruses are the real culprits to the occurrence of genital warts.  Without HPV, you will not have the anogenital tract infections.  If you want to see light on these problems however, there are techniques to help you prevent them.  All you need is discipline.

Preventing genital warts

As previously discussed, HPV infection and genital warts are commonly acquired from sexual contacts with different partners.  This is a good basis to recommend genital warts prevention to every individual.  You do not have to wait until you have the problem for you to prevent it. Otherwise, what you will need by then are treatments for the virus.  Here are some recommended tips to put a stop to genital warts:

•    Abstinence.  Overindulgence in sex especially when changing partners frequently is not a healthy habit.  Abstinence will be a quick-fix to the problem.  While you could not abstain from the act totally, see to it that you practice doing the act with one sexual partner only.  Genital warts may be prevented by sexual abstinence.  However, HPV skin infections may still be present even if abstinence is practiced.  Skin warts may still occur in some patients.

•    HPV injections.  Gardasil is gaining popularity when it comes to stopping the spread of HPV infections such as genital warts.  Add to that the fact that it is already FDA approved.  This is especially helpful for HPV-6 and 11 which are culprits to genital warts as well as other HPVs such as HPV-16 and 18.

•    Condom.  You may require your partner to use condoms during sexual intercourse.  This has been proven to prevent genital warts from worsening.  However, this is not a total preventive measure to HPV infections.

Other pointers on genital warts prevention

Some studies have shown that genital warts may be transmitted in a number of ways.  In fact, the mother may just pass it on to the child in her womb.  This brings about the occurrence of genital warts in young girls and even nuns.

Other ways by which genital warts may be transmitted are through direct hand contact and even through oral-genital transfers.  This leads to the fact that although condoms and abstinence from sex are especially helpful for genital warts prevention, the techniques could not ensure stopping the problem.  In fact, even the use of hormonal birth control methods as well as spermicides is not ideal for genital warts prevention.

If you really want to stop the spread of genital warts, you must always practice safe sexual activities.  Bear in mind that if you already have the disease, you must inform your partner about it.   Act now before you may suffer all the consequences later on.
