The Prevalence Of Genital Warts

Do the stats for HPV speak of the numbers for genital warts as well? Read along and find out the answer to this question.

As stressed, genital wart is not HPV infection.  The former is just one of the effects of the latter depending on the type of HPV.  With this then, it pays to know how common HPV infection is in order to know the prevalence of genital warts.  The relationship between these two disorders is just too strong to generalize that the statistics of HPV speaks so much about the occurrence of genital warts as well.  Is this really true?

In the United States, around seventy five percent (75%) of sexually active individuals have been infected by HPV in one way or another.  Each year, the number increases ascertaining that there are more than six million individuals caught in the dilemma.  The sad thing about this is the fact that fifty percent (50%) belong to the younger age group, that is, those whose ages range from 15 to 25 years old.

The occurrence of HPV and genital warts

There is no way you may presume that once a person has HPV, genital warts may occur.  The fact is that the development of warts in a person’s private part is not that rampant.  Not even the symptoms of such a disease may be felt by a person affected by HPV.

Genital warts are also said to be lesions of the anogenital tract.  These are not commonly seen in people with HPV as well.  You may really never know about it unless you have yourself undergo a series of tests to help you with the ordeal.  What we are trying to point out here is that the generalization in the first paragraph of this article is not true at all.

More on the prevalence of HPV and genital warts

Several procedures to strengthen the immune system have been done in order to fight the battle against HPV infection and its resulting diseases such as genital warts.  The truth to the matter is that this technique has not been proven effective yet to resist the disease.  Add to that the fact that positive or negative results of HPV tests tend to be inconsistent at times.

Some individuals may usually pose positive results under and HPV test.  Later on, the results tend to become negative.  However, this does not preclude that the person is safe to get back to his usual intimate activities again.  Some parts of the viral infection may be left in hiding.

Even in persons without genital warts and other benign lesions, HPV may still cause a stir through sexual transmission.  This fact will then allow you to clean up your act now in order not to suffer the consequences later on.  Always be responsible with whatever it is that you are doing.

If you do not want HPV or genital warts to lead to more severe stages, you need to undergo treatment at its onset.  Do not wait until such time that you are feeling too much discomfort for you to go through the usual procedure.  Lucky are those who have the medical means to observe the occurrence of HPV.
