Gardasil Vaccine: One Of The First-hand Genital Warts Medications

Gardasil vaccine is the first HPV vaccine approved by the FDA. It is a genital warts medication that helps prevent the spread of the problem. Know more about this product.

It is always heard that prevention is better than cure.  It is in this regard that you should always consider taking careful steps to help stop a skin disease from affecting your system.  This simply means that you should do something to combat it before you will be down with its effects.  For genital warts medications, Gardasil vaccine becomes a popular choice.

Only a few individuals have been educated about the need to use an HPV vaccine to prevent the HPV infection.  Gardasil is one of the immunizations you must consider even at a young age.  In fact, this is recommended for young girls aged 9 up to adults at the age of 26.  It is helpful in fighting HPV 6, 11, 16 and 18 –two of which are strains causing genital warts.

The facts behind Gardasil vaccine

Gardasil helps protect you from other diseases such as cervical cancer and other abnormal and precancerous lesions of the vagina and vulva.  In short, it is tasked to become the partner for all the needs of women – sexually active or not.  Take note however that Gardasil is not for individuals who have active genital warts or cervical cancer.  Here are other facts on the vaccine:

•    Dosage.  Gardasil is recommended to be injected in girls even before they experience their first sexual intercourse.  You do not have to be sexually active for you to be given this protection to your system.  There are three doses which you should have.  The first dose is given two months before the second dose.  The third dose should be administered by your physician within six months from the first shot.

•    Contraindications.  Immunosuppresive drugs are said to affect the results of the Gardasil vaccine.  Having a Hepatitis B vaccine may be done simultaneous to the vaccine provided that it is administered in a different site where the Gardasil dose was injected.  Hormonal contraceptives do not produce any adverse reaction when used with the vaccine.  This shot should not be given to conceiving women and breastfeeding mothers.

•    Side Effects.  People who are administered with Gardasil vaccine may experience common side effects like fever, vomiting, nausea, fainting and dizziness. Moderate pain, itching, swelling and redness may also be felt at the site of the injection.  In most cases, individuals may need to wait at least 15 minutes at the doctor’s clinic after the shot to observe any incidence of fainting. In extreme cases, headache, joint pain, severe allergic reactions, weakness, tiredness or muscle pain may be felt by people who are given the Gardasil vaccine.  It is advised that in the event any individual is allergic to the vaccine’s components, the shot should not be given.

The wisest thing to do when it comes to Gardasil vaccine is to consider seeking help from the experts.  This may not be given in ordinary health centers in your area.  Make sure you inquire about the essence of this genital warts medication before you actually agree to take the doses.
