Cervical Cancer: An Hpv Infection Commonly Associated With Genital Warts

Cervical cancer may either result from genital warts and other anogenital infections brought by HPVs. Find out more on the other possible causes of the disease.

Cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer death in women.  Two thirds of which occur in the cervix, and the rest is in the uterus itself.  Early detection of the cervical cancer has been made possible by the Pap test.  More often than not, cervical cancer is associated with genital warts.

There are no explanations why some women develop cervical cancer and others do not.  However, there are some particular risk factors that are considered why some females are prone to the problem.  These danger issues have something to do with the possibilities of acquiring the disease.

Danger issues resulting to cervical cancer

Cervical cancer does not happen without intervention from some bad habits of a person. It transcends from the occurrence of various infections of the body.  Take a look at the following:

•    Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs).  HPV contamination is the major danger issue for cervical cancer.  It is a collection of viruses that can contaminate the cervix.  It can be acquired through sexual intercourse.  Individuals who have acquired HVP infection for quite some time have the possibility to obtain genital warts and anogenital tract infections. There are other ways the physician can detect the HPV without the presence of warts or other signs.

•    Lack of regular Pap tests.  Cervical cancer usually affects women who do not undergo frequent Pap tests.  These procedures help the physician diagnose precancerous cells so that it can be treated as soon as possible to avoid cancer.

•    Weakened immune system.  Females who have HIV contamination or who are taking medicines that can restrain the proper functioning of the immune system have a great possibility of acquiring cervical cancer.  Customary screening for cervical cancer is required.

•    Age.  A woman’s age is also considered as one risk factor for cervical cancer, especially for those in their 40’s.

•    Sexual history.  Females who are sexually active with different sexual partners have a great possibility of acquiring cervical cancers due to the higher rate of HPV infection.

•    Smoking.  Females who are already contaminated with HPV and who are smokers will most likely develop cervical cancer more than those who have the contamination but do not smoke.

•    Using birth control pills for a long time.  This is also one risk factor to be considered in developing cervical cancer, especially for women who have already an HPV contamination.  Women must be aware that contraceptive pills must not be used for more than five consecutive years, as it may result to HPV infection.

•    Having many children.  There were researches made that imply the occurrence of cervical cancer due to this fact.  This is because of the prevalence of HPV infection in these individuals.

•    Diethylstilbestrol (DES) use.  Women who take-in this drug will most likely acquire cervical cancer and other particular kinds of cancers in their reproductive system.

Females who think that they have great possibility of having cervical cancer must talk to their physician at once.  There is no better way out than having proper diagnosis.  You may inquire facts through health centers and your family physician.
