There are other genital warts treatments aside from the topical solutions which are commonly recommended by your doctors. Find out more about these agents and procedures.
Topical solutions are the most common treatments undertaken in order to solve the problems on genital warts. The likes of Imiquimod, Podofilox and Podophyllin Resin are the most common examples. When it comes to provider-administered genital warts treatments, cryotherapy seems to be a standout. However, besides all these medications, there are other procedures you must know about to eliminate the sight.
There are certain recommended regimens for genital warts. Some are patient-administered while some are physician or provider-administered. Aside from these two categories of regimens however, alternative regimens also abound. Intralesional interferon and laser surgery are found under this type of genital warts treatment.
Other genital warts treatments
Since some sections have already discussed about the different topical solutions pertaining to the genital warts treatments, focus on the other regimens usually done to get rid of the problem. The most common examples are discussed in detail below:
• Trichloroacetic or bichloroacetic acids. These two treatments are known as agents in helping destroy genital warts or lesions. When proteins and chemicals group together to coagulate, the problem is solved immediately. This treatment is discouraged because it may cause damage to some nearby tissues to where the solution is applied. It is also best to use the solutions cautiously to avoid problems. Do not sit or stand unless the acids dry out on the surface where application was done.
• Surgical therapy. Surgery is a more costly alternative to any type of treatment. When it comes to genital warts, one-time surgery may already help you get rid of the problem. This is only possible with the proper equipment used by the expert. Local anesthesia is often used in order to get rid of the discomfort and pain of the procedure. Electrocautery will then be used in order to get rid of genital warts. However, this procedure may cause some scarring thus the need to take extra caution. Curettage and tangential excisions are also common samples of the therapy.
• Interferons. This is yet another alternative treatment for genital warts. It may be directly injected into the warts thus making the procedure referred to as intralesional. This procedure also has its own flaws and results to some discomforts on the part of the patient. It may cause irritation, itching and burning sensations most commonly on the site of the injection. Stinging and pain may also be felt. This technique is favored because of its antiviral properties but is not considered as the first genital warts treatment option you should undertake for your problem. It may also cause severe side effects to your entire system.
The common goal of genital warts treatments is to help you out with your problem at the very least. This will mean minus all the discomforts you feel with the HPV infection present in your body. As much as possible, it is best to go to your doctors first to ask for help. He will educate you to know about genital warts in its totality. You should not rush things just because you want to get rid of the dilemma.
